Breastfeeding was a lot harder than I anticipated. I had been given a lot of advice about nursing beforehand, even took a class, so I thought it would be a breeze. I knew all the holds, knew skin to skin was important, and I though I was prepared. It was a huge disappointment when I wasn’t producing enough milk at first. I was determined to give my baby breast milk and really wanted to avoid supplementing.
I consulted a lactation consultant, went to meetings, pumped often, drank red raspberry leaf tea, nettle tea, took fenugreek and ate lactation cookies. Cookies!! I have to say the cookies were the best part of trying to increase my milk production, an excuse to eat cookies by Milk Mama Bake Shop and they are so delicious. These cookies are made with love.
I would seriously eat these cookies even not when breastfeeding, they are so good. To be honest, I was doing so many things that I cannot pinpoint exactly what got things going, but I think the combination of everything and commitment I made to breastfeeding did the trick. Milk Mama lactation cookies were by far the funnest.
